University Partnerships

As the historic Old Post Office in Lowestoft is transformed into Messums East, a new international arts and cultural hub offering gallery spaces, residencies, studios, a library of ideas, and education/community engagement programmes, we are working with a number of research partners in order to ascertain the social impact of this provision.

We are embarking on partnerships with universities across the UK whose research, teaching, and knowledge-exchange share in our mission: using creativity to address social, environmental, and economic challenges in one of the UK’s most deprived coastal towns.

We aim for our university partners, with their different areas of academic and creative expertise, to conduct research studies implementing evaluation frameworks which ensure Messums East captures and understands the impact of its work from the outset and subsequently guides its future planning.

Research Science

Ocean Rising is an initiative launched by the Schmidt Ocean Institute and Nekton to deepen people’s relationship to the Ocean by galvanising connections and tangible initiatives within all major sectors of global culture. The aim is to interweave the arts, fashion, sport, music, gaming, film, social media, literature, and food with the undersea world to inspire a new generation of Ocean ambassadors.

The Corridor Project

We are delighted to be a partner in the Corridor Project, a not-for-profit multidisciplinary arts and cultural organisation providing a platform for artists-in-residencies, education, cultural pursuits and research in the form of exhibitions, workshops and events.

Our artists Tyga Helme and Jelly Green recently joined the project for a residency, located on Wiradjuri Country in regional NSW Australia.
