REFIRED
LOWESTOFT PORCELAIN
Refired is a collaborative ceramics project developed by Messums East in partnership with Lowestoft Studio Porcelain, celebrating the rich heritage of 18th-century Lowestoft porcelain through new artistic interpretation.
Drawing on an original collection of historic Lowestoft slip-casting and press moulds, a curated group of contemporary artists and practitioners will re-imagine these forms using their own aesthetic approaches and experimental techniques.

Working closely with porcelain specialist Tim Cross, artists will be supported through all stages of research, development and making, combining traditional porcelain processes with contemporary methods, materials and conceptual frameworks.
The project will culminate in a collection of unique contemporary porcelain works and a public exhibition at Messums East in the former Post Office following its opening in Autumn 2026. The project situates Lowestoft porcelain within a wider history of ceramic influence and exchange, resulting in new commissioned works presented in a contemporary context.
