WHERE WE STARTED...

On a disused RAF site near Chilmark, Wiltshire, Messums Studios was founded by Messums West in 2021 as a community facing art studio offering skills based creative learning.

Having started with a handful of short courses and a small number of students, we now operate six days a week during term-time, providing a robust programme of creative learning classes for people of all ages. Out of term-times, we deliver masterclasses with expert artists and creative workshops for young people and families.

A CREATIVE STUDIO FOR EVERYONE

We are committed to supporting the development of individuals' creative language through the tuition of making skills and material knowledge across age groups and backgrounds.

Ceramics and Drawing are our main subjects of in-house expertise, though we always seek to offer learning opportunities exploring other topics and media.

HOW WE ARE GROWING...

Building on the success of our work with schools and community groups, and thanks to the generosity of our supporters, in 2025, our programme expanded to include a wider range of free and 'pay what you can' workshops for children, families and young people. As facilitators of community outreach and public engagement work, we are a significant driver of cultural ecology within the Southwest Wiltshire Community.

MESSUMS STUDIOS TEAM

Our in-house team of artist tutors are experts in their fields with a wealth of experience in the tuition of making skills and delivering creative learning opportunities in the community.
