Messums Studios, Chilmark

Description

Saturday Young Artists is a weekly pottery class for young people taught by our expert tutors. Age guidance 8+ Dates: Saturday 25 April - 05 July 2026 Half term: Saturday 30 May 2026 Times: 14.00 – 16.00 Location: Messums Studios, Chilmark, SP3 5DU Course Fee: £165 Saturday afternoon creative sessions in which young artists can expect to experience a multitude of creative media. During the term young people can expect to create from clay and ceramics including wheel work and clay modelling, hand building and sculpture. This is a mixed age and mixed ability class nurturing creativity in a sharing environment welcoming children up to A level age. During our sessions you can relax and create as a way to escape the routine of the week, but if you want you can expand on your GCSE or A level portfolio with us, you can work towards Duke of Edinburgh Awards, or work on the content for art scholarship applications. At Messums Creative we firmly believe that making is also a form of non-verbal language, and learning new skills allows us to bond with one another in new ways. So whether you are an aspiring sculptor or a product designer, if you want to learn to model clay or just get away from a digital environment, it doesn’t really matter. During your time here young creatives will learn new skills and make memories. Classes are intended just for children and we will always have two DBS checked tutors on site.   *(Materials – will be charged upon completion of each project if committed to firing. Please ask your tutor for details.) Please Bring: Notebook, apron and an old towel. Please wear closed-toe shoes.

Please check your availability prior to booking your course. Individual sessions missed during your regular term-time course are non-refundable and non-transferable to another person or date. A full refund for regular classes or short courses can be requested if cancelling no less than three weeks before the start. A cancellation fee of £25 will be deducted from the full refund. If cancelling less than three weeks prior to the start of the regular class or short course a partial refund of 50% of the course fee can be requested, less cancellation fee of £25.
